PLEASE start breathing. By the age of 50 most of us have decreased our lung capacity. High chest breathers are more susceptible to viruses affecting the lungs. Open-mouth breathers have reduced use of lungs. We used to see this open mouth breathing in elders, but now we see it in younger people. Trauma breathers. This open-mouth breathing also spreads more germs.
• Do core strength int exercises.
• Breathe DEEPLY. I teach people an 8-5-8 breath count.
- 8 seconds in through nose, deep into stomach or lungs.
- 5 seconds, hold air in and visualize a balloon being expanded that you are filling it up.
- 8 seconds of a slow release through a relaxed mouth like your fogging a mirror.
• Walk briskly concentrating on tightening your abdomen and deep breathing
• Spend time outside or with windows open.
If you have already decreased your lung capacity you can order a lung exerciser on Amazon to measure and build capacity.
